From [profile] melissa_228: Five Question Meme

posted by [personal profile] scarecrowfan at 05:36pm on 02/04/2009
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me!"
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on ...

1. What would you like to study in university and why?

I'm still not sure what I would be looking into as a major, or minor for that matter, but I know a variety of classes I'd like to take! English Literature; I love reading. I have since I was a kid, and not a day goes by when I'm not reading some form of book or others. Sometimes its silly things like mangas about vampires with questionable sexuality. Other times, it's books tracing America's reaction through it's first Red Scare, Hay Market for the record, and possible causes for anti-union sentiment pre-WWI. Classics; Greek and Latin especially, I think, just because I find them to be fascinating. So many modern day concepts can be traced back to Greek or Latin roots, and I find it genuinly fascinating just how little some things have seemed to change since then. Also, Psychology; just because the human brain is a strange, strange place. Learning what makes people react the way they do has always been a curiosity of mine.

2. Music - I know you are very musical. What do you enjoy most about music? What instrument do you enjoy the most? Why?

I think for me, the biggest draw to music is the emotion, which is why I'm especially drawn to instrumental pieces. Just being able to close your eyes and follow each note, trace each intonation and pitch and dynamic in the song, trying to figure out what you're meant to from it all once you put it together....I know it probably sounds weird, but there is just something lovely and entrancing to me in even the smallest of tunes; studyng music has just made me appreciate the compositions that much more.

As for my favorite instrument, that's the cello, hand down. I took piano classes when I was a kid, but I hated it. Then in seventh grade I joined Orchestra, and picked up the violin. I found it fun, really, but I never got too into it. Eight grade I picked up the clarinet because of a change of school, and I found myself loving band but missing Orchestra. Ninth grade, and I got a chance to play strings again, except this time I was place on the cello. I fell in love with it. I love string isntruments, btu somehow the violin had always seemed too....light to me, in both pitch and structure. But the cello was different. It was big, it was deep, and when you held it to yourself while playing you could actually feel the wood vibrating against your chest. It was wider fingerings, more muscle just to use the bow, and a lot more blisters from sliding up and down the strings. But to me, those two hours every other day that I got to sit there and pluck away at it? It was the most amazing experience in my life.

3. How do you manage to be so adorable?

................I will not vaidate this with a responce.

4. Another university question. What factor is the most important for you in choosing a university? Which factor is the least important?

The more I research into universities and look arund, the more I'm finding that I care about the size. I don't want a big University. I don't want to be one of two hundred students listening to a TA talk for two hours at a time. I want small classes, interactions and discussions and actually knowing who is in the same room as you. As for least important factor....I would have to say its whether the university is private or public.

5. Tell me something you do better than almost anybody besides being adorable, we all ready know all about that

Shuuuush Analyzing, I think. If there's anything that English class has shown me, it's that I have a tendency to look into characters and stories and make connections that most people gloss over. Also, apparently finding innuendo in the most innocent of things. I have the same class to attribute for this.
